报告摘要:There are three basic needs for human beings - namely, food, clothing and shelter. For shelter, Myanmar has mostly utilized wood because of, mostly believed, are of two reasons.
First Fact is that Myanmar is a mainly warm country. Wood absorbs heat quickly and release quickly. Brick absorbs heat slowly and release slowly. Second Fact is that Brick is widely used for Buddhist Temples and people reserved brick for Buddhist Monuments and so they wanted to refrain from using brick. However, this concept is now not maintained.

The Myanmar traditionally recognize ten arts or crafts known by branding as ‘the ten flowers,’ and so the name for each art ( in Myanmar language) begins with the word ‘Pan’, meaning ‘flower.’

Wood carving (Pan-pu) has inherited in Myanmar Society since long ago immemorial. Design is indispensable to any of the arts and crafts. Burmese artists of old seemed not to have learnt ‘design’ as a subject of study at a particular place of learning or with a proper tutor. But the works of art they created leave no doubt that they understood the principles of design. Variations and adaptations to suit the given time, place and motif are possible only through a thorough understanding of principle of design. There is ample evidence that our artists of old understood lines, size, significance, organization, form, etc., which constitute the fundamentals of design.
